About The Producer

Fred Lacy

Frederick Lacy discovered the Alexander Technique in the late 1990’s, qualifying as a Teacher in 2004. In his previous life he was a successful investment banker and executive from 1984 through 2000. Mr. Lacy was involved with the analysis and development of several dozen Companies such as Petrohawk Energy, SourcingLink.net and “Hooked on Phonics”.
He has been quoted in many publications such as The Wall Street Journal and in 1989 he produced and hosted The Venture Capitalist which aired on the Financial News Network (now CNBC). Mr. Lacy lives in Orange County , California , and enjoys feeling and living better thanks to the Alexander Technique.

My investigation into principles behind the Alexander Technique included detailed observation of natural movement patterns as exhibited in nature and among the so called ‘undeveloped’ cultures.

The Peruvian Amazon basin is an amazing location to observe nature and natural living in an unblemished setting. I was able to make several trips into the very heart of the jungle, where I spent time with many local peoples, possessing remarkably developed natural abilities and sensory awareness that would put Westerners to shame.

This included a visit with an amazing 90-year-old lady, a Shaman healer of the old traditional ways, who 'cleansed' my ‘civilized’ spirits in order to adapt better to jungle living.

All about the jungle, and other remote parts of the planet, one will meet people who, having nothing of a material nature, and living in what developed societies would call abject poverty, without plumbing, electricity, and even the most basic conveniences  – yet they are smiling and happy. Their bodies never exhibit tension and strain. They live with ease and act freely.

Perhaps they are on to something? If only one could combine Western technological advancements with a more natural way of life – ease, simplicity, freedom and happiness – would not that be a winning combination?

Oh, that’s right. There is something.

It’s called the Alexander Technique.
